Common Questions About Clear Aligners.

How many hours a day must I wear them?

For the treatment to work, you must wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day. This means they should only be taken out for eating, drinking (anything other than water), and brushing. If you don't wear them consistently, your teeth won't move, and treatment will take longer.

Will they affect my speech?

You may notice a slight lisp for the first day or two as your tongue gets used to having the trays in your mouth. This is temporary. Most patients sound completely normal within 48 hours.

Can I drink coffee or wine with them in?

No. You should remove your aligners for any hot beverages (which can warp the plastic) or colored drinks like coffee, tea, and red wine (which can stain the plastic). However, because they are removable, you don't have to give up your morning coffee—just take them out to enjoy it!

How is this different from "Mail-Order" aligners?

Safety and supervision. Mail-order clubs often rely on DIY impressions and have zero doctor supervision during treatment. Does it hurt?

Clear aligners are generally much more comfortable than metal braces because there are no wires to poke your cheeks. When you switch to a new tray, you may feel some "pressure" or tightness for a day or two. This is a good sign—it means the aligners are working!

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. Whether you use braces or aligners, teeth always have a memory and want to drift back. To protect your investment, we provide clear retainers (which look exactly like your aligners) to be worn at night while you sleep.
