Common Questions About General Dentistry.
How often do I really need a cleaning?
For most healthy adults and children, the American Dental Association recommends a checkup and cleaning every 6 months. However, if you have a history of gum disease or rapid plaque buildup, we may suggest visiting every 3–4 months to keep your oral health stable.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Yes. We use modern Digital X-Rays, which emit up to 90% less radiation than old-fashioned film X-rays. They are extremely safe and necessary for us to see "between" the teeth and under the gumline where the naked eye cannot reach.
I haven't been to the dentist in years. Will I be scolded?
Absolutely not. We are a judgment-free practice. We understand that life happens, and we are simply happy you have chosen to take care of your health now. We will assess where you are today and move forward together—no lectures, ever.
Do fillings hurt?
No. We use powerful local anesthetics to completely numb the area before we begin. You may feel some vibration or pressure, but you should not feel sharpness or pain. If you are anxious, please let us know—we have options to help you relax!
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major PPO insurance plans and will happily file claims on your behalf to maximize your benefits. If you do not have insurance, ask us about our In-House Membership Plan, which offers free cleanings and discounts on treatment for a low monthly fee.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Healthy gums should not bleed. Bleeding is usually the first sign of Gingivitis (early gum disease), caused by plaque buildup irritating the tissue. The good news is that with a professional cleaning and improved home care, this is often completely reversible.
